Browser History Theft

When it comes to Internet security there is one age old risk that developers are still ignoring. The theft of a user’s browser history.

There is a sign of improvement though. A new site has appeared that is designed to raise awareness of this flaw. With the click of a button Start Panic will give you a list of all the websites in your browser history. The ease and speed at which this list is populated is scarily easy. All it takes is one block of JavaScript code and your browser history can be exposed without any resistance.

There is one way to stop these JavaScript attacks and that is using the No-Script add-on for Mozilla Firefox. The installation of this add-on will stop any JavaScript on a site. Why all browsers don’t include this functionality out of the box is beyond us.

A petition to get this functionality is available to sign on the Start Panic website.
